Would this catch on?

Tigger (aka Tigger the TatCat) is just such an obliging lace model (as you can see from my profile pic.) Pardon the wonky bits in the lace, not all of it has been blocked yet.

Truth is, like most cats, if it's warm enough, still enough, and not too much effort to get to, it'll get sat on. Me tatting provides pretty much all of that. However, Tigger has trained himself to ignore shuttles. Unfortunately our other cat still gets an insane gleam in his eye if he's on my lap and one dangles within batting distance (or I'm two-shuttle tatting and one gets dropped on him).... I have to face him the other way and pat him 'til he forgets about it if I want to keep my lapwarmer. =)

This pattern looks so good on Tigger...would lacy cat coats catch on do you think? =)

I've probably messed it up for using for a show now, but it was worth to see that "I look GOOD in this" look on that furry little face. It had some accidental scorch marks on it from the initial blocking that I had to wash out (grumblemumblestupidstuffupgrumble), so it's not really show worthy anymore anyway (washing's a bit of a no-no for shows down here).

That's it for now.... Hopefully I'll have one of my other UFO hankies that I've been too lazy to stitch up done soon. =)

Happy tatting!

Cas.

  1. I find it interesting that washing is a no-no. Our state fair rules specifically state things must be washed and blocked!

  2. If only!
I suspect it's to stop people putting Grannie's 20 year old doily through the Napisan (bleach) and entering it.... =)
There's usually something about when it was made (must be in the last 18 months?). These are just for the Melbourne Royal show, it pays to check the schedule for each show you enter, I think!
    Happy Tatting,
    Cas. =)

  3. The lace is wonderful, but,to me, poor Tigger is wearing his long-suffering - look-at-what-I-have-to put-up-with look! - he's so big and cuddly, I want to scoop him up.
I do miss having a cat - but vowed not to get another because I can't cope with the pain of losing them.

  4. Naaaah, that's his sidelong fashion-model look to make sure you're looking at him....
He's the only cat I knows that visibly preens when he gets a new collar and tags...=)

    Happy tatting!

  8. Thanks Joy! Not doing so well on the updating tho.... =)

Our house has been an experimental virus lab for the last 6 weeks... between hubby's flu, me getting something at work, and ds bringing home the usual daycare grab-bag of bugs, it's taken a while for us to get over the whole collection! Possibly not done yet, but better than we've been for a while... Still tatting here and there though. =)
